During my time in Iceland I got to meet some incredible people. Two of those people were Jake and Bridget. Jake and Bridget are a couple that went to Rider University with me and have been together for two and a half years. When I first met Jake, I didn't really know him that well, however later during the trip we became friends and I met his girlfriend Bridget. During the trip Jake asked me to take some photos of them at different locations in Iceland. When Jake asked me to photograph them I was excited to do something sweet for them. Later on in the trip I found myself enjoying doing photos for them to make their trip memorable. I never really thought I would love doing photos like this but it was something different and was exciting. During the trip I talked with Jake and Bridget a lot about how their trip was going. Jake said “this place is amazing, I'm so happy that me and Bridget were able to take a vacation together to Iceland”. Some of my favorite moments when photographing them at the waterfall Gljúfrabúi. The waterfall was located inside a cave where the water pours down from an opening inside the cave letting sunlight and water in. The location made for a beautiful photograph of the two. Originally when photographing there I wasn’t sure if the photos would turn out great because of water getting on the lens. However when doing some editing to the photos the photos at the waterfall became really striking, beautiful images where they both stood on top of a rock as the sunlight and the misty blue waterfall poured down with water droplets getting on my lens making the images very unique and breathtaking. My second favorite image I took for them was located at Fjaðrárgljúfur Canyon. This image is a little different than some of my creative shots but I love it because of what is shown. The image shows the two really close together Jake having one arm holding Bridget at his side with them both smiling. In the background it shows a lush green landscape which I think compliments the two adding a romantic scene of the two at the beautiful Canyon. My final image that I found to be my favorite was taken at the top of Iceland’s biggest church which is called Hallgrímskirkja. The photo was taken at the top of the clock tower where you can see the two looking through the window of the tower. In front of the image of them is a railing from the staircase. I did this on purpose to add depth and a romantic feeling as well as a cinematic feel to it which worked. During the end of the trip I asked if I could interview the two on their time here. Jake said, “I had an amazing time with Bridget on this trip and I’m glad that I got to experience this trip with her.” I asked Jake and Bridget about their time there, if they would ever want to go back, their favorite foods and favorite moment together in Iceland. Bridget said, "We would love to go back! It would be especially cool to go back when the northern lights are visible since that was one of the things we couldn't do this time around. Everything that we saw was really magical, especially all the waterfalls and mountains, but I think the coolest part was seeing so much that we don't have in our area, like hot springs and all the lava which kind of comprised every surface we were on." Jake said, "I would absolutely go back! There are so many other places around the world that we haven't seen yet so it might take some time, but I really hope we do go back someday. I most enjoyed the landscape of Iceland. It was so varied and radically different from what we're used to seeing in New Jersey. My favorite dish was definitely the lamb we had at the hotel. It was so good. I think my favorite moment with Bridget was whale watching. The whole boat ride was really beautiful and we both got really into looking out for whales and dolphins. Bridget actually saw a whale blow before anyone else on the boat, but we had never seen one before and weren't actually sure that it was what we had seen." In the end I had an amazing time getting to know them, interviewing them on their time there, and taking some photos for them.
